MSc Radoslaw Gurdak
Since 2016 in Remote Sensing Centre at the Institute of Geodesy and Cartography. Since October 2017 MSc Radoslaw Gurdak is carrying out four-year doctoral (PhD) studies conducted at Department of Geoinformatics, Cartography and Remote Sensing , Faculty of Geography and Regional Studies, University of Warsaw.
MSc Radosław Gurdak graduated at the University of Warsaw, Department of Geography and Regional Studies in 2014. For his MSc. degree he was studying Digital geomorphological map of małopolskie voivodeship in scale 1: 300 000 with geoinformatics methods. He is responsible for in-situ measurements collections (soil moisture, LAI, APAR, carbon balance, radiance temperature, chlorophyll, wet and dry biomass). Mr. Gurdak completed the course of the spectroradiometer (ASD FieldSpec 4 Hi-Res) operation.
His research focused on analyzing biophysical parameters applying satellite images derived from Sentinel-2, Sentinel-3 and Proba-V missions. Within the framework of ESA-funded project POLWET he is responsible for processing microwave images (ALOS-2, ENVISAT, ERS, Sentinel-1) and production of the maps of roughness, soil moisture, the spring floods. His latest research activities are concentrated on assessing the quality of low and medium-resolution images under ESA-funded project on land products validation.
In 2016-2018 he attended in many national and international conferences (SPIE, IGARSS, LPVE, Proba-V Symposium, FLEX and EARSeL Workshops). He presented the results of his research during oral presentations and poster sessions. Mr Gurdak took part in an internship in Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena where he expanded his knowledge on SAR data. Mr. Gurdak is also involved in field data collection in order to analyze vegetation conditions over wetlands and agricultural areas in Poland. Since 2017 Mr Gurdak is a team member who conducts research within the JECAM Poland study site. Mr Gurdak is also experienced in field data collection for Calibration/Validation of space-based observations, performed within the framework of ESA funded project entitled Land Products Validation and Characterisation in support to Proba-V, S-2 and S-3 missions.
