Geodesy and geodynamics E-mail

zgigThe activities of the Institute on the field of geodesy and geodynamics focuses on research issues, coordinated by the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics. It involves reference systems and their realizations, geodetic, grawimetric and geomagnetic networks, modern measurement technology, modeling of the Earth's gravity field and the monitoring of geodynamic processes. The Institute's activities cover also the problems of high precision surveying for infrastructure engineering.

Calibration and validation of geodetic instruments E-mail

Institute of Geodesy and Cartography makes validation and calibration of geodetic instruments: rangefinders, theodolites, levels and leveling rods.

Institute maintains a lenght base for the rangefinders calibration and tests, as well as a laboratory and test site for testing the leveling rods in an upright position.

Geodetical-Geophysical Observatory "Borowa Góra" E-mail

borowa_gora

The origins of the Obser- vatory date back to 1929. The first time compari- sion observations were then performed between the Borowa Góra Astro- nomical Observatory and the Paris Observatory.

One of the points of inter- section of the meridional and the parallel triangulation chains, lying in what is now Observatory, was adopted as the point of application of the Bessel ellipsoid to the geoid, and the beginning of a state coordinate system named "Borowa Góra".

Currently, in the observatory, there are located two permanent GNSS stations, the absolute gravimetric laboratory, tidal gravimetric and geomagnetic stations, as well as length base for the rangefinder calibration. There are still continuing the astrometric observations.

The Astronomical Almanac E-mail

miniatura_rararaThe Astronomical Almanac is developed and published effort of the Institute of Geodesy and Car- tography in Warsaw since 1946.

Almanac is the primary source of data used in astronomical-geo- detic measurements, the source of up to date information on the latest, adopted by the Interna- tional Astronomical Union and the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics, reference systems frames. It is also the source of many astronomical data used in the teaching of astronomy and geodesy, as well as by amateurs.
