The Centre of Geodesy and Geodynamics of the Institute of Geodesy and Cartography (IGiK), Warsaw, Poland, has announced a job offer for a specialist, doctoral (PhD) student or Postdoc in the EU-Horizon funded EQIP-G project (https://cordis.europa.eu/project/id/101215427)

Requirements of candidates:

  1. MSc degree, PhD degree, or proved experience, in geodesy, geophysics, geosciences or related discipline.
  2. Programming skills in at least one environment, e.g. Python, C, Matlab
  3. Basic knowledge on Windows and Linux operating systems
  4. Good command of spoken and written English language
  5. Good cooperation skills, the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and to communicate and cooperate with international collaborators
  6. Motivation for further learning and expanding competences

Not essential but in an asset:

  1. Experience with terrestrial gravimetry
  2. Experience in geodetic data analysis
  3. Basis understanding of quantum physics
  4. Scientific writing skills
  5. Willingness to do field work in remote places (in Europe) up to a duration of 3 weeks at a time, several times within an year
  6. Driving license (EU approved) and driving experience

Task description:

The EQUIP-G project started in June 2025. It convens world-leading experts in gravimetry from 11 European countries. Its aim is to establish a terrestrial network of quantum gravimeters in Europe.

The main tasks for the candidate:

  1. Operate a quantum gravimeter and plan and conduct measurements in the field and in the laboratory
  2. Process, analyze and report gravity and related data
  3. Actively collaborate within the EQUIP-consortium and contribute to project activities
  4. Present results at international conferences and publish in peer-reviewed international journals

Starting date: As soon as possible

Working hours: Full time (40 h/week)

Conditions of employment:

Salary level will start at 7000 PLN (with tax). The final salary will be determined according to applicant’s degree, experience and expertise. The position in the project is planned for 36 months. Trial period is 3 months.
