We are pleased to announce that the Institute of Geodesy and Cartography (IGiK) has been designated as a Topic Centre Organisation (TCO) within the European Environment Information and Observation Network (EIONET), coordinated by the European Environment Agency (EEA).
EIONET is a collaborative network of scientific, expert and governmental institutions that supports the European Environment Agency in collecting, analysing and disseminating information on the state of the environment across Europe. The status of a Topic Centre Organisation is granted to entities with recognised expertise in areas relevant to the implementation of the European Union’s environmental objectives.
IGiK’s inclusion in the TCO community confirms the Institute’s strong expertise in Earth observation, remote sensing, spatial analysis and the use of geospatial data for environmental monitoring and sustainable development.
Participation in the EIONET network opens new opportunities for international cooperation, knowledge exchange and involvement in European initiatives and projects. It will also strengthen the Institute’s presence within the European community of experts engaged in environmental monitoring and protection.
We would like to thank everyone involved in the nomination and designation process that led to IGiK becoming part of the EIONET network. We are confident that these new opportunities for collaboration will contribute to the further development of IGiK’s scientific and expert activities.
