Conference at the Ministry of Climate and Environment on Marine and Coastal Ecosystems.

The Institute of Geodesy and Cartography actively participates in meetings organised by the Ministry of Climate and Environment. On 21–22 October, a conference was held on the implementation of the Nature Restoration Law (NRL) in Poland and the status of work on the preparation of the National Plan for the Restoration of Natural Resources, which was initiated by the European Commission. Professor Katarzyna Dąbrowska-Zielińska was invited to participate in the panel entitled “Marine and coastal ecosystems (Articles 4 and 5)”. This panel also featured Prof. Jan Marcin Węsławski (Institute of Oceanology, Polish Academy of Sciences), Dr Monika Michałek (Maritime Institute, Gdynia Maritime University), Dr Andrzej Ginalski (WWF Poland) and Monika Zakrzewska (Maritime Office in Gdynia).

The Remote Sensing Centre at the Institute of Geodesy and Cartography specialises in coastal areas. We cooperate with the Maritime Office in Gdynia and the Marshal’s Office of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, among others. In September, the Institute submitted a project proposal to the LIFE programme entitled “LIFE-BaCaS: Life-Baltic Carbon Sequestration”, which aims to study changes in coastal ecosystems.
