80TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE INSTITUTE OF GEODESY AND CARTOGRAPHY

On 11 September, the Staszic Palace hosted a ceremony celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Institute. The event was attended by employees, associates and numerous invited guests – representatives of the scientific community, partner institutions and administration, as well as former employees who contributed to the history of the Institute.

During the event, the activities of the Institute’s individual centres were presented, showcasing their achievements and research directions. In his speech, the Director of the Institute, Ph.D. Eng Michał Szota, discussed the main priorities and development plans for the coming years, pointing to key areas of research and cooperation.

Particular attention was paid to the establishment of the Centre for Aerial and Satellite Image Processing (OPOLIS), which was presented by Prof. Katarzyna Dąbrowska-Zielińska, who outlined its mission and activities.

The programme included presentations by individual centres of the Institute, which outlined their achievements to date and plans for the future.

The musical setting for the ceremony was provided by Mr Adam Dudek and Ms Nicol Miękus.

This day showed how rich the Institute’s history is and how much still lies ahead.

We would like to thank all our guests for celebrating with us!
