Absolute gravity campaign within the BalMarGrav project (Poland), September 6-7, 2023

Added on: 24 September 2023

A second gravity campaign with the use of the A10-020 absolute gravimeter was conducted by the team of the Institute of Geodesy and Cartography (Poland), to provide reference gravity measurements for the marine gravimetric surveys within the project in the harbour of Szczecin and Świnoujście..

In total, nearly 1400 km were travelled to conduct absolute gravity, vertical gravity gradient determinations as well as relative gravity surveys at two locations in the ports of Szczecin and Świnoujście. Measurements at the Szczecin harbour are directly related to the BalMarGrav marine gravity campaign in 2023 with the research/training vessel Navigator XXI owned by the Maritime University of Szczecin and a marine gravimeter MGS-6 operated by the Gdańsk University of Technology. On the other hand, measurements at Świnoujście are related to improvement of gravity reference for marine gravity surveys performed in 1979!
