Precise measurements of the acceleration of gravity at geodynamic monitoring stations in Hołowno and Dziwie

Added on: 28 November 2023

On November 6-10, 2023, employees of the Centre of Geodesy and Geodynamics of the Institute of Geodesy and Cartography (IGiK) carried out precise measurements of the acceleration of gravity at geodynamic monitoring stations in Hołowno and Dziwie maintained by the Polish Geological Institute - National Research Institute (PGI-NRI).

The work was carried out as a part of the project Geodynamical Monitoring of Poland run by the PGI-NRI. On the part of IGiK, the following people participated in the measurements: PhD Eng. Przemysław Dykowski and PhD Marcin Sękowski (Center for Geodesy and Geodynamics), from the PGI side: MSc Eng. Kamila Karkowska, MSc Eng. Mirosław Musiatewicz and Kaj Michałowski (Geohazard Center).

The work included over 24 hours of recordings using the AQG-B07 Absolute Quantum Gravimeter and determining the true value of the vertical gravity gradient at each of the two stations.
