Drought in central Poland

Remote Sensing Centre is monitoring crop state and thermal conditions during the growing season using the databese of NOAA/AVHRR satellites images. This year we can observe the growing lack of the sufficient soil moisture from the begining of June in the central part of Poland. We present you the state of agricultural moisture conditions in Poland on 20 of June. Drought covers about 68% of all arable lands, where extreme drought stands 32%. Especially five voivodships is touched by drought: wielkopolskie, lubuskie, kujawsko-pomorskie, mazowieckie, łódzkie.

We've monitored the development of drought from the start of growing season. Every 10 days we've published the actual map with the information about drought at the agricultural regions.
