Project goal:

The main objectives of the project are:

  • preparation of diagnosis concerning economic, social and environmental state of mazowieckie voivodeship;
  • determination of regional specializations of Mazovia and proposals to change economy in the region;
  • elaboration of Smart Villages concept for Mazovia;
  • analysis of cultural, touristic and regional assets of rural areas in mazowieckie voivodeship;
  • preparation of the concept of computer infrastructure enabling implementation of Smart Villages concept;
  • preparation of assumptions for testing and social verification of Smart Vilages concept;
  • preparation of concepts and assumptions for Smart Villages mobile application;
  • preparation of concept of the Strategy of Development of Rural Areas in mazowieckie voivodeship.

The project has pilot research character and its realization is aimed at preparation of Smart Villages concept for mazowieckie voivodeship and for strengthening collaboration between territorial units and research institutions.

Tasks realized at the Institute of Geodesy and Cartography:

The following tasks responding to the Project objectives will be conducted at the Institute of Geodesy and Cartography:

  • classification of the main crops for representative districts with the use of satellite data;
  • determination of acreage of green areas and relationship between green and impervious areas;
  • analysis of land use changes within rural areas 2006 – 2018;
  • determination of fallow land in order to point out areas predestined to cultivation of energetic plants;
  • determination of soil moisture changes within rural areas with the special emphasis put to grasslands, aimed at re-naturalization of environment;
  • determination of areas threatened with water deficit with the use of multi-temporal satellite data;
  • preparation of the concept of “heat islands” – i.e. areas with repeated increased temperature;
  • preparation of proposal for tree locations, which will minimize impact of high temperatures;
  • preparation of databases resulting from research works, useful for monitoring soil moisture conditions and for validating classification results;
  • preparation of solutions for air quality monitoring, soil moisture monitoring and for pests monitoring (using Sentinel-5 data);
  • preparation of concept of soil and water protection, including activities aimed at drought effects mitigation;
  • analysis of possibilities of valorization of protected habitats with the use of satellite data and spatial information systems;
  • preparation of concept of infrastructure for products generated at the research tasks;
  • organization of training / information meetings related to the tasks conducted at the Institute of Geodesy and Cartography;
  • concept, technical assumptions and description of functionality of mobile application concerning soil quality, mobile centre for soil / crop diagnostics and for monitoring state of the main environment / crop features.
