CEUBIOM - remote sensing methodology for gathering information on biomass potential

CEUBIOM - Classification of European biomass potential for BIOENERGY using terrestrial and earth observations

Project leader: prof. Katarzyna Dabrowska-Zielinska
Duration: 2008-2010

The main objective of the project was to develop a common methodology for gathering information on biomass potential using terrestrial and earth observations. This objective was achieved by the implementation of a systematic assessment work plan and with result in the establishment of a harmonized approach and an e-training tool for dissemination. The e-training environment was an important tool for reaching the much-needed European harmonization, whereas a Stakeholder Platform was facilitate access to reliable and common datasets on biomass potential and as such it was offer a more efficient use of the available European biomass feedstock.

The project was:

  • to develop a common methodology for gathering information on biomass potential using terrestrial and earth observations,
  • to use e-technologies for disseminating information, best practices on the use and applicability of developed harmonized methodology Institute participates in following Work Packages:

WP 2 – Streamlining research results into a common methodology for using EO biomass potential assessment
WP 4 – Combination and Harmonization of EO and Terrestrial Methods
WP 5 – Platform development for Stakeholder Interaction, Common Datasets and Results
WP 6 – CEUBIOM e-Training Programme Development and Deployment
                 WP 7 – Dissemination
