Modelling of energetic usage of biomass
Modelling of energetic usage of biomass
Grant EEA PL0073 (Norwegian Financial Mechanism and EOG Mechanism) led by the Institute for Building, Mechanization and Electrification of Agriculture (IBMER)
Project leader: prof. Anna Grzybek (IBMER)
Project leader in IGiK: prof. Katarzyna Dabrowska-Zielinska; cooperation: dr Zbigniew Bochenek
Duration: 2007 - 2010
There are two main tasks conducted at the Institute of Geodesy and Cartography within the project:
- interpretation of satellite images
- assessment of impact of plantations of energetic plants on water resources
The aim of the project is to determine possibilities of cultivation of energetic plants at different regions of Poland. Monitoring of these plants with the use of remote sensing methods is the innovative aspect of the project. Analysis of conditions of plant growth, i.e. changes in soil moisture, evapotranspiration and biomass with the use of Landsat and NOAA satellite images is done at the Institute of Geodesy and Cartography. Detailed spectral analysis at different bands and various time intervals, in combination with terrain characteristics will enable to determine areas useful for cultivation of energetic plants, considering their water demands.
