OCRE - The Open Clouds for Research Environments

The Open Clouds for Research Environments project (OCRE), aims to accelerate cloud adoption in the European research community, by bringing together cloud providers, Earth Observation (EO) organisations and the research and education community, through ready-to-use service agreements.

Europe is the largest producer of research data in the world. However, there are significant bureaucratic and financial barriers when it comes to combining research environment and commercial cloud services. The EU-funded OCRE (Open Cloud for Research Environments) project aims to facilitate researchers' access to cloud services and EO data, thereby supporting the development of cloud computing and innovation in Europe.
